Fireworks

Last night (June 27, 2011) we attended the annual Windsor/Detroit fireworks. Holly thought that they were the most incredible thing...but the traffic and bus lines were horrible. It made Chris and I wonder if it's even worth it to go anymore. Not getting home until 11:30 PM, we had a miserable child on our hands, and were dead tired from waiting in bus lines. It's hard to ignore the thousands of rude people  and dirty surroundings, but we did it. Time will tell if we attend again next year, but until then, here are some of my favourite pictures from this year!

Holly's candy jar decor. This is my favourite part of her room. Yes, it's all real candy...she just doesn't know that! :)

The pom-pom ceiling in Holly's room. I did this to try and brighten up her room, because if you didn't notice, Holly's room is completely painted dark brown. I posted this because in a few weeks, we will be painting her room white and re-decorating! Cant wait!

Summertime fires! This picture was taken at Chris' parents' campground, which is where we spent our entire weekend. I also just love these shoes!

My new set of square cake pans (with rounded edges). $4.99 for all 3 at Value Village. Such an amazing deal that the cashier got angry that she had missed these! I'm thinking that they may be perfect for a wedding cake! I love Value Village.

Grande white chocolate mocha frappuchino blended coffee. Double blended.

The perfect summer afternoon. We watched the girls play in their pool all afternoon, and then ate some hot dogs! Big fun, I know!

Newest bedroom addition. I love this mirror and this table, but they both have no place in our home. This is the best I could come up with right now, but the table needs something fun sitting on it. Any ideas?

I would die for Starbucks. This cup housed a Cinnamon Dolce Latte, my fav!

Holly's demanding calls to Grandma. God, I wish she lived closer.

My Prom dress. There is no room for this thing anywhere, and I don't want to sell it even though it's now 3 years old, so it sits on our bedroom floor without a home.

My First a-little-less-than-extreme Coupon!

I know its not that much, but for some reason I got a ridiculous adrenaline rush from seeing this receipt. I've been doing a lot of readings up on Canadian couponing policies and deals, and decided to put them into effect.So, I checked out the weekly flyers for sales, matched my coupons with the sales, and went shopping!

It was pretty funny though, that the register locked up and a manager needed to be called after only 4 coupons. I guess it really isn't like what you see on Tv!

I had a buy 2 get 2 coupon for Ziploc bags, and because they were on sale, I got 4 boxes for under $5.00. I had a buy 1 get 1 coupon for Glade Plugin Refills that were also on sale, leaving me getting 2 packs for around $5.00 (They are regularly over $7.00 a piece!). I also had a buy 1 toilet cleaning gel, get 1 toilet bowl cleaner that ended up getting me the Scrubbing Bubbles Gel and the Duck bowl cleaner for around $3.50 for both. Finally, I had a coupon for $2.00 off Finish Quantum! 

I am definitely doing this again.

Twisted Krispies!

Surfing the internet, I came across this wonderful recipe on How Sweet It Is!

I love me a Rice Krispie treat, but this just makes it better. So, for fathers day we decided to make them!

Adding some french vanilla cake mix to the recipe gives them a completely different taste, and the sprinkles just top make it seem that much more cake-like.

Yay for new recipes!

I wish I would have used more sprinkles!

Construction Site Cake Part 2

Construction cake and matching smash cake all finished!

Favourite parts of the cake- Candy "rocks" that look incredibly real, and one of the trucks "driving up" the side of the cake that creates a nice balance with the Oreo crumb hill on the other side.

I got to baking and decorating, and Chris decided to help. What a great boyfriend!

Pretty Pink

A few days ago, I was checking out my regular blogs (like I do everyday, sometimes twice a day) and I came across a post this post on Cupcakes and Cashmere.

I decided to pull a bit of a copy-cat, but with my favourite colours.

Although I hate my short nails and horrid cuticles, I love, love, love the results!

I started with 2 coats of OPI's "Nail Envy" for sensitive and peeling nails.

Next, I painted on 2 coats of my new favourite nail polish colour- OPI's "Mod About You".

Finally, I applied a coat of silver sparkle nail polish that I found in my bag of random polishes.

My DIY Robin's nest that sits in the middle of our dining room table.

Makes our horrid orange kitchen seem a little nicer.

Fake flowers that sit on top of our TV in our upstairs living room.

I keep them in water to try and fool myself into thinking they're real :).

Dont laugh, but I just realized after 3 years of having my camera,

that I only had a 256mb memory card in it.

No wonder I had to delete pictures every time I turned it on.....

Fire Pit Fun

Our first fire pit BBQ of the summer

Iphone + Chris = love.

She loves ketchup!

So, this past weekend we had out first fire pit BBQ.

We've been talking about getting a bbq for a while now, but lack the funds to do it.

We finally realized that a grill over our fire pit would probably do the trick, and it turns out that our hotdogs tasted just as good as they would have on a real bbq. 

I guess the lesson here is to never spend money on something you don't really need!
