A Winter Wedding Cake

This weekend I had the pleasure of creating a beautiful wedding cake- a very simple monogram topped cake with gorgeous purple ribbon.

My favourite things about this cake?
The simplicity of the monogram on top. I played around with ribbon surrounding the "W" but it just didn't look right- it made it unreadable, or just too cluttered atop the cake. I just love monogram topped cakes, period. I also adore how each tier has a different colour of purple ribbon, and of course, my favourite part is the polka dots all over (which you can see better in the pictures below).

Problems I had with the cake?
While doing this cake, I encountered a few problems with fondant because it turns out that trying to fondant a 6" high square cake is very hard to do- the corners tend to rip. A few tries and I got it looking beautiful, but fondant is still something that I curse at. Other than that, I will actually say that this cake gave me a huge confidence boost because it was extremely tall, and I really had no problems with levelling, stabilization, or stacking.

Check out a few more pictures:

The monogram topper along with tons and tons of dots. The uniformity of them is so beautiful.

Thank you to the bride and groom for allowing me to create this beauty!
